About Valley Structures Limited
Valley Structures was founded by two highly experienced structural steel detailers with more than 50 years of combined experience working in the industry in the UK and Australia.
Our careers have included detailing and project management roles with leading structural steel companies, working on projects ranging from smaller steelwork packages to major and technically demanding structures.
That experience is at the heart of how we work today: practical, accurate detailing backed by an understanding of what happens to the steel once the drawings leave the office.
How we work
We believe good detailing is about more than producing drawings. It is about understanding the structure, anticipating problems, communicating clearly and producing information that works in the real world.
We work closely with clients and project teams, adapting our approach to suit their existing standards, software, processes and project requirements.

About our Directors
Simon Ambler
Simon began his structural steel career in 1995, progressing from traditional drawing-office work through 2D CAD and into 3D Tekla detailing.
He went on to become a Project Manager, managing teams and major projects including The Shard and Heathrow Terminal 5, before gaining further experience with leading structural steel contractors in both the UK and Australia.
James Ellis
James began his career in structural steel detailing in 1999, progressing into 3D detailing and project management on projects ranging from hundreds to several thousand tonnes.
His experience includes major structures such as More London and an overseas LNG plant, followed by three years working with a large structural steel contractor in Sydney before returning to the UK to head up a drawing office.
Together, Simon and James bring more than 50 years of combined experience to Valley Structures.
