About Us

About us

Valley Structures was created by two vastly experienced detailers, with over 45 years combined working for market leaders both in the UK and Australia.

Having used Tekla Structures (previously Xsteel) continually since version 3.1, we have in-depth knowledge of the software and the ability to utilise it to it's full potential and capabilities. We also use Tekla Model Sharing meaning our team and clients can work closely together.

Given our experience in both the industry and software we have the capabilities to detail any structure. From a simple stair to a skyscraper, a power generator frame to a shopping centre or sports stadium.
Our services include:
  • 3D modelling using Tekla Structures
  • 2D general arrangement drawings
  • 3D lotting general arrangement drawings
  • Fabrication & single part drawings
  • Template / Sketch / Site works as required
  • CAM / NC and any other required files

We can also help in setting up and developing drawing sheets and reports to suit your requirements.

About our Directors
Simon Ambler

Simon served his apprenticeship at Kennedy Watts Partnership, starting in 1995 on the drawing board. He quickly advanced to 2D software (ME10 & AutoCAD) before moving onto 3D Tekla (previously Xsteel).

Working for market leaders in this fast paced drawing office, Simon soon became Project Manager for many large iconic buildings such as The Shard & T5 at Heathrow airport, managing teams of staff.

Having moved on from Kennedy Watts, Simon built on his existing knowledge working for one of the UK's leading structural steelwork contractors before moving onto one of Australia's leaders.

James Ellis

James also served his apprenticeship at Kennedy Watts Partnership starting in 1999. The path to 3D detailing was quick and was soon leading projects from 100 to several thousand tons.

Again working in the fast paced drawing office, James progressed to become Project Manager for many large structures such as a overseas LNG plant and More London development.

James then took his career to  Australia to work with a large structural steel contractor in Sydney, NSW. Having lived and worked there for 3 years working on a variety of projects, James was asked by the company to head up a drawing office back in the UK.
